Horrible Business-Horrible Customer Service, quite possibly the best Ebay scammers out there. Re: TOYOTA 3VZE 3.0L V6 ENGINE HI-PRO 190HP/210FTLBS

-Received the motor in a timely fashion
-Installed the motor in my 1993 Toyota Truck 4x4 ex-cab
-Performed the break-in procedure as per their instructions
-Drove my truck for approximately 6,000 miles- when the head gasket failed in this motor.
-Emailed them (with pics of oil in the coolant in my radiator) and low compression readings.
-They requested me to send the heads to them for diagnostics- I removed the motor from the truck, removed the heads- sent the heads back.
-no calls from them. I called, and when they finally answered- told me they were still being "diagnosed".
-no calls from them. I called, they told me results were in. The heads were warped. I asked how? I had no overheating issues- were they warped to begin with? Improper torquing when they installed them? No answer... Told me they would send newly rebuilt heads next week.
-next week- no calls from them. Left messages, no return calls.
-after that, each time I called- no answer from them. No return phone calls after my voice mails. Basically, they had my original money, my heads(the cores that I returned for "diagnostics)- and then stopped communicating with me altogether. I was without my truck- AND without heads to use as cores to buy from someone else. I was stuck, unless I wanted to pay a lot more money to continue with this motor. For many, many months...
-----------------------
Just recently- they sent newly rebuilt heads(that I had checked at a local machine shop, they are actually flat- and leak tight). BUT, its been around 1.5 years of dealing with these guys. 1.5 years of being without my truck- only because of their shoddy workmanship/horrible customer service.
Their EBAY reviews are a sham. I recently learned that Ebay has a 60 day time limit for their feedback reviews. Ordering time/Shipping Time/Motor Installation Time/Motor Break-In Time/Driving time(early mileage time) basically take up all or most of that 60 day time limit. If you do have trouble(many people do have troubles with this company)- if you do have trouble- there is very little chance that you can add this info to EBAY- where people need to see it. So, the reviews are mostly good- and are mostly talking about quick shipping... That's it- "thanks for the quick shipping" type reviews... That may be the only reason they are still in business- scamming ebay purchasers in far away places... Who believe they are dealing with an Ebay seller with a good reputation.
-They advertise their great "7year/70,000 mile warranty"- but what good is that warranty if they sell you a *** product- then ignore you? You spend most of your available time trying to get ahold of them, they keep ducking you- and you are without the use of your truck for over 1.5 years? It sucks. Luckily, they finally sent the newly rebuilt heads- I'm putting everything back together now. I'm just hoping the rest of the motor holds together(no signs of weakness, but I have no guarantees of anything)...
I'm glad the word is getting out about this company. They do have an "F" rating at the Oregon Better Business Bureau. And a Yelp review. I did read a different review that the local news did a story on their shady business practices- hopefully more people learn, and don't make the same mistake I did with them...
-buyer beware.
- Quick shipping
- Quality customer service lying
Unrealiable
Clueless, Rude, lucky to still have all his teeth
Went to CHS excited about the restoration of the 65' Mustang my wife was driving when we first started dating. Upon my first visit, all looked good as far as nice shop and friendly service, top end components on display around the shop..
So I convinced myself that this was the place to handle my rebuild! The day I dropped off the engine and deposit and was figuring out what was going to be done on the motor as far as components and machine work, is when I should have went somewhere else! This was my first full restoration project ever, so I was trying to be careful not to overlook any details and had done some research on this 200 C.I. Inline 6 on Clifford Researches website and was interested in their 6=8 build and wanted to take it a step further since I was taking the car down to bare metal and going through every piece of this car down to the last nut and bolt!
This engine has the log style intake that is part of the head, this is the performance downfall of this engine, and limits what it is capable of producing in power! I now know this after I have put my money into a waste of time, that CHS had no clue or just didn't care that the oversize stainless Manley valves that they machined the head for or the performance cam they sold me would be of no aid in the power output due to the volume of air that the fixed intake can provide through the single barrel carb that the head was designed for! I have since discovered it was a waste of time and I should have found a head off of a 250 C.I. Inline 6 that has a bolt on intake and aftermarket options to allow up to a four barrel carb and the capability to move the air, because it can be adapted to the 200 six with little effort!
I was going to cut no corners on this build because of the extent of the restoration! I had the assembly balanced with Clevite bearings throughout over sized stainless valves and performance springs and retainers 150lbs at seat, coated pistons with molly rings to insure a seal when the cylinders start to oval under pressure, performance cam, zero decked block and head, bored .60 over and was told I didn't need to worry about the cylinders hot spotting when I dropped the question , high volume oil pump, when I ask about what kind of engine fasteners, ARP? Greg stated, I use quality fasteners! Ended up being the ones he removed with what looks like a pair of vise grips, @##hole!, upgraded timing chain!
Was told no problem and would have it completed in 3 to 4 weeks! Month 2 I dropped in to check on the progress to find that they were just finishing the machine work, I am guessing from the obvious welding done on the head because they failed at their first attempt and totally machined way to deep, is what caused the delay! Maybe that I stamped with a punch set, all my own markings in the components to assure I was getting back what I dropped off, forced him to fix the screw up, and delayed the build! Everybody Knows not to waste your time welding a head or block, rookie!
I had my 5 year old daughter with me on this visit and was shocked when I ask Greg when it would be finished, he totally freaked out and blew up, yelling and cursing! He told me I could take the f@#$ing thing now and pay him $1700! I am thinking to myself, for ruining my head and putting me a month behind on the build! So I ask him if I could speak to the manager, and that's when he informed me that he was the f!@#ing manager and owner!
I stated that I only ask for a date of completion because of the other work I had lined up to be done on the car, not that I was pissed or pressuring him to get it done! When I said that the girl at the counter was present when he told me 3 to 4 weeks, she looked like she was going to start crying and just wanted to be anywhere but there at that moment, at this point I knew I was dealing with a psycho! I told him I was surprised when he told me a month, because i did not think the parts would be readily available and was happy to hear that kind of return was possible, and I was only going off of what he had told me! I told him I was not upset and I am only trying to finish the project and keep everyone happy, and told him take whatever time he needed to get it done right!
If my daughter would have not been there, I may have jumped over that counter and strangled the midget, and I should have because she was there! What kind of owner or anyone as far as that goes, conducts business in that manner? I finally got the motor back 4 weeks after the confrontation and about 3 months from the time I dropped it off!
I have stopped the build for over a year now because of the reviews I have read, and the poor work that CHS turns out in fear of losing what I have invested! I am now saving up the money for a new head and to have a reputable builder go through the motor again to be safe!
Motor failed in less than 10k miles!
